K-State Olathe is part of a regional win worth celebrating. The KC BioHub consortium, a program of BioNexus KC, has been awarded $38.1 million from the U.S. Economic Development Administration's Tech Hubs program to grow biomanufacturing across the Kansas City region.
The four-year award will fund five projects focused on workforce development, supply chain resilience and industry growth, and it positions the consortium to receive up to $150 million in future federal funding. The initiative is projected to create 11,000 jobs and add $9.2 billion in regional economic impact over the next decade.
More than 115 regional partners make up the consortium, spanning from McPherson, Kansas, to Columbia, Missouri, with K-State Olathe among the institutions helping build out the region's biomanufacturing talent pipeline.
